Planning the Removal of a Heavy Dining Table
The tabletop material, removable base, and exit route determine whether a dining table can leave in one piece.

Find out what the top is made from
Solid wood, glass, stone, and composite tops behave differently. Photograph the underside and the connection between top and base. Tell the provider about leaves, extension hardware, and any existing cracks.
Protect the path
Clear chairs, rugs, pendant-light obstacles, and wall decor. Measure the table, doorway, and stair turn. Let the crew decide the lift and protection method for the actual weight and route.
Keep hardware organized
If the provider directs disassembly, use labeled bags for fasteners and keep paired legs or base pieces together. Do not place a heavy tabletop on an unstable edge.
Buffalo residents should check the City of Buffalo’s current Streets and Sanitation guidance for municipal bulk-item rules. Other municipalities set their own rules.
